![]() ![]() It may or may not reveal anything noteworthy.ĭelete or obscure any information you might consider personal, such as your Mac's name or your user name. Select All that Terminal window's contents, copy and paste the results in a reply. While the game is running and the MBP is hot enter the following line in Terminal ( triple-click to select the entire line, then copy and paste it into the Terminal window):Ĭlear printf '\e[3J' P='pmset' S='\n#' Q=(Thermal Load Events Assertions Preemptions) R=(therm sysload 2 3 4) printf $S\ $ | tail -n 4 2>&1 If you are interested in extracting meaningful data, consider the following. Don't impede the Mac's heat dissipation by using cases or "skins" because the entire aluminum housing serves as a heat sink. It's normal for the case to feel warm, but not excessively hot. I still think 200☏ is too high but I'm not much of a gamer and have difficulty getting my MBPs to get anywhere near that temperature, but if Apple says they examined yours and determined it to be OK then I'm inclined to believe it's OK. If that doesn't reduce its thermal load the Mac will simply shut down. As its temperature limit is approached the system will throttle the CPU so as not to exceed it. Sorry my bad english but I am from Europe, Spain.Gaming will demand maximum performance from your Mac, but it won't damage it. Another way software for control fans is the better solution to work with low temperatures. Apple have the best publicity in Media, Video and Photo, but his hardware work at too high temperature and the life of components shorted at high temperatures. And better not speak about Apple Care and putting refurbished components like Panels. Apple engineers not put fans to max rpm for break hardware! If i Use iStat and put to MAX fan rpm the GPU goes down to 52✬, a very safe temperature for work and i don't think about noise, simply is better for my iMac work with less temperature. I process every day 2 video and GPU Goes to 79✬ during converting video tu mp4. ![]() The iMac is Out of warranty, so, I send my iMac for a "Reballing" GPU and now it is working again. I have an iMac 27'' 2010 late and GPU breaked for overheat. Personally I LOL about "protection from Apple". Personally, the internal fan control contained in the SMC chip in your computer is adequate to assure that the CPU and GPU do not overheat. Although you can play some games on them any game that makes heavy demands on the processors will cause them to become uncomfortably hot unless you take external cooling precautions. ![]() Apple does not even refer to them as "laptops." They are called "Notebook" computers. Apple's manuals tell you not to use them on your lap because of the possibility of burning your thighs or causing overheating damage to the computer. There isn't much room inside to provide huge cooling devices. Laptops run hot because they are small, thin, and light. I wouldn't recommend using any such software and trust that the Apple engineers know what they are doing. SMC Fan Control is essentially the same as iStat Menues. Read on to learn the main reasons why your MacBook Pro/Air is overheating, how to prevent it from happening, and how to make your MacBook fan quieter. Your Mac’s temperature should remain within 30-50 degrees in a normal mode and 50-70 degrees when the fan is working. I don't know if Mac Fan Control acknowledges one fan for the CPU and one for the GPU, but if so, then, yes, I would set it up separately. You can do this with the help of third-party applications, like iStat Menus. On the computer I have that uses Macs Fan Control that is how I set it up. Tying to the hotter of the two cores assures that core won't overheat because the other core is cooler. Both cores are contained in a single chip, so the object is to cool the chip. ![]()
