![]() These characters include Ganondorf, Bayonetta, Ryu, and Captain Falcon. This is a double-edged sword for him, however, since those characters are usually just as good in up-close interactions, if not better. Little Mac does best against characters that he can easily pressure and contest up-close. There's also the fact that he can only use them so close to the stage safely, so going far out to gimp him or sending him at a low angle is usually fatal to him. This makes edgeguarding him a bit tricky at times, but it's no issue if you just wait to see what he does when trying to recover. He'll also try to Down-B to counter any attacks that may come his way. You should also try your best to get him offstage, since he does much worse in recovery scenarios.Īs for edgeguarding him, he'll usually try to line himself up with the ledge so he can Side-B to it safely. The only thing he can really do is counter, but attacking him from below can make it ineffective against you. Juggling Little Mac is a great strategy since he's nearly defenseless in this situation. This leads into the other thing you can do against him: keep him in the air. If Little Mac can't close the distance against you, then he can't really play the game.Ī great way to do this is to condition him to jump toward you. For starters, you'll have to camp him out and make him work for his game plan. He'll also try to catch your landings with a Smash Attack if you try to approach him from the air. Little Mac will try to stay as close to you as he can to apply pressure, taking advantage of his great movement speed and powerful attacks. If it misses, his opponents can pretty much do whatever attack they want to him. There's also the fact that he has tons of endlag on the move. If he's in the air, it won't kill until his opponent reaches higher percents. While the punch is super strong, that's only if it's used on the ground. There's also a weakness with his unique mechanic, KO Uppercut. That being said, these options can be baited out of him easily since he'll usually need them to recover. His aerial mobility is also lacking with his airdodge being so pitiful, only helped by his Side-B and counter Down-B, which can intercept edgeguards. His Up-B is great for killing opponents at the top of the stage, but for getting back to the stage, it doesn't go very high at all. That aerial hopelessness translates into his terrible recovery. Little Mac is nearly hopeless in the air. His only saving grace is his DAir which is a surprisingly fast and unexpected spike move, but the damage and spiking power is also very weak. The rest of his aerials are weak as well, on top of being small in range and having sort of awkward hitboxes. While his NAir in particular is very fast and safe, it's also very weak. ![]() ![]() ![]() Little Mac's ground game is great, but his abysmal air game ultimately holds him back. ![]()
